Syncing data between Polar device and Polar Flow app fails

Please notice that the sync may take a while if you have lots of activity and training data on your Polar device.

After you’ve paired your Polar device with the Flow app, normally the easiest way to  sync is by pressing and holding the BACK button on your training device.

First make sure that you’ve got the latest version of the Flow app on your mobile device and the latest firmware on your Polar device. Also make sure that the Flow app is running on your mobile device and keep it at the foreground.

Try the following steps one at a time to fix the syncing problem. Try to sync again after each step. Continue with the steps if the sync fails.

  1. Switch Bluetooth off and on from your mobile device.
  2. Restart your mobile device and Polar device. To restart your Polar device press and hold the UP, DOWN, BACK and LIGHT buttons simultaneously for five seconds until the Polar animation is shown on the display. Alternatively, go to Settings > General settings > About your watch and choose Restart your watch.
  3. Unpair and pair your Polar device with the mobile device.
    1. On your mobile device remove your Polar device from the list of paired Bluetooth devices as follows:
iPhone: Settings > Bluetooth, press i and Forget this Device,
Android: Settings > Bluetooth > Choose Polar device and Forget this Device.
    2. On your Polar device go to Settings > General settings > Pair and sync > Paired devices (or Remove pairings). Choose your mobile device (iPhone, Android) and select Delete pairing? > Yes.
    3. Pair your Polar device again by pressing and holding the BACK button. Wait a while and enter the PIN code your Polar device suggests to your mobile device.
NOTE: Do NOT use your phone’s Bluetooth menu to pair the Polar device.

If you are using Android version 6.0 or later, make sure location is enabled for Polar Flow app in the phone's application settings. Otherwise your Android device is not able to identify your Polar device and cannot connect to your Polar device.
If you are using Android and you have more than one Polar device in use, activate the device you want to sync via the Devices menu.

  4. Turn Flight mode on and off in your Polar device: Settings > General settings > Flight mode.
  5. Re-install Polar Flow app on your mobile device:
    1. On your mobile device, go to Settings > Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is set ON. Remove your Polar device from your mobile device's Bluetooth setting menu. NOTE! This step is important, especially with iOS devices since new device pairing can't be done in the Flow app before the earlier connection has been removed from the Bluetooth device list.
    2. Turn off Bluetooth on your mobile device.
    3. Sign out from the Flow app and uninstall it from your mobile device.
    4. Restart your mobile device.
    5. Turn Bluetooth back on in your mobile device.
    6. Install Flow app again from the App store or from Google Play and sign in with your Flow account.
    7. Open the Flow app. Pair your Polar device with the Flow app by pressing and holding the Back button of your Polar device. Wait a while and enter the PIN code your Polar device suggests to your mobile device. Do not use your phone’s Bluetooth menu to pair the Polar device. The pairing is done in the Flow app!
  6. Perform a factory reset to your Polar device.
