How to restart or factory reset my Polar Loop
Applies to: Polar Loop
If you experience problems with your device, you can try restarting it. Restarting the device will not delete any of your personal data from the device. However, when restarting, the device's date and time settings will be reset to their default values, and any ongoing processes (such as sleep calculation) will end. To ensure your sleep and activity data accumulate correctly, sync the device with the Flow app after restarting to get the correct date and time settings on the device.
To restart Polar Loop
The restart/reset button is on the top side of the device, under the wristband. To restart the device, briefly press the button with a pin when the device is NOT plugged in to charge.

Shortly after you release the button, all LEDs will turn off for a few seconds. All LEDs will then illuminate briefly, after which the four red LEDs will light up one at a time in a repeating clockwise sequence.
After restarting:
The repeating red LED pattern indicates that you need to sync your device with the Flow app. Restarting resets the device's date and time settings to their default values. Syncing restores the correct date and time and ensures that your sleep and activity data accumulate correctly.
To sync manually, go to Devices in the Flow app and select Sync. If the sync doesnât start, close the Flow app so that itâs no longer running in the background, then open it again and try syncing again.
To reset Polar Loop to factory settings
If restarting your device didn't help, you can reset the device back to factory settings. Note that resetting the device back to factory settings empties all personal data and settings from the device, and you will need to set it up again for your personal use. All data that you have synced from your device to your Flow account is safe.
You can reset your device to factory settings in two ways:
- Via the Devices view in the Flow app.
- By briefly pressing the device's restart/reset button with a pin while the device is plugged in to charge.
To reset your device using the Flow app, go to Devices and select Polar Loop if you have more than one Polar device. Then select Factory reset.

After the factory reset:
After a factory reset, Polar Loop is unpaired from your phone but may still appear in the phoneâs list of paired Bluetooth devices. If itâs still listed, remove it before setting up the device again:
- iOS: Go to Settings > Bluetooth > tap âiâ next to Polar Loop > Forget This Device.
- Android: Go to Settings > Bluetooth > tap the cogwheel icon next to Polar Loop > FORGET.
Follow the instructions in the Flow app to set up your Polar Loop again. Remember to use the same Polar account in the setup you've used before resetting.
