Updated Cardio Load Status feedback in the Flow app and web service
The Cardio Load Status calculation in the Flow app and web service has been updated to provide more actionable feedback in situations where the load has been low, such as when you are just starting to train or recovering after an intensive training period. Previously, the Cardio Load Status feedback in the Flow app and web service was based solely on the strain-to-tolerance ratio. Now, it also considers your absolute strain and tolerance values, as well as your Cardio Load Status over the past 14 days.
The following Polar watches use the previous Cardio Load Status calculation based on the strain-to-tolerance ratio. Because of this, the feedback on these watches may differ in certain situations from the updated feedback shown in the Flow app and web service:
- Grit X
- Grit X Pro
- Ignite
- Ignite 2
- Ignite 3
- Pacer
- Pacer Pro
- Unite
- Vantage M
- Vantage M2
- Vantage M3
- Vantage V
- Vantage V2
We recommend monitoring your Cardio Load Status in the Flow app and web service to get the most accurate feedback. The updated Cardio load Status feedback is available in the Flow app and web service for all users of Polar watches equipped with the Training Load Pro feature. To get the updated feedback for your Cardio Load Status, make sure that you have the latest version of the Flow app installed on your phone (6.25.0 or newer for iOS and Android, 7.25.0 or newer for Huawei).
The updated feedback is available also on Grit X2 Pro and Vantage V3 with firmware version 3.0.16 or newer. Vantage M3 will receive it later in a firmware update.
What has changed?
We have added a new status: Recovering. This is shown when you have been overreaching in the past 14 days. As your training load decreases, you'll now see "Recovering" instead of "Detraining".

With the previous Cardio Load Status calculation, you could reach "Overreaching" too quickly, for example, when you were just starting to train or beginning to use the Training Load Pro feature. This could give the impression that you were training too hard, even if you weren’t. We have adjusted the status to better reflect when you are training at a productive level. In relevant situations, you will now see “Productive” instead of “Overreaching,” providing clearer, more actionable feedback.

Where can I find my Cardio Load Status in the Flow app and web service?
