Inaccurate route or distance?

Polar Beat uses the phone's location services feature and is therefore dependent on the phone's functionality. To check that your location services are correctly set, see Compatibility and requirements > Show route and speed in Polar Beat.

If GPS reception is poor, for example due to location, inaccurate readings can occur. GPS accuracy depends on the number of visible GPS satellites. Locating all available satellites can take several minutes. The best GPS signal reception can be reached when training in an open area where there are no obstructions for the satellite signals. Due to the nature of the GPS signal, for example hills, tall buildings, and trees may block the satellite signal. Rain, fog, and snow may also affect the signal quality. When GPS reception is blocked your phone uses Wi-Fi or cellular networks to determine your position.

If you feel your route or distance is inaccurate, the checklist below can help to improve accuracy. Check that:

  • You have the latest version of the app in use
  • You don't have any battery saving option enabled in the phone settings
  • On Android check that in Settings > Connections > Location > Location method is set to High accuracy
  • The date, time, and time zone are set correctly in your phone’s Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use Set Automatically
