Polar Vantage V3 2.0.19 firmware update
There is a new firmware update available for Polar Vantage V3. You can update your watch on your mobile via the Flow app or on your computer via FlowSync.
New outdoor training metrics
This release brings the following advanced outdoor training metrics to your watch: Vertical speed, VAM and 3D Speed. Vertical speed is an instant, real-time measurement of ascents and descents, used to calculate how many meters or feet you ascend or descend per minute, taking only altitude into account. VAM measures your average ascent speed in vertical meters per hour, both during a 30-second window and since the start of a lap. 3D Speed measures your speed by taking both vertical and horizontal movement into account. Vertical speed, VAM and 3D speed are currently available in the following sport profiles:
- Hiking
- Trail running
- Cycling
- Road cycling
- Mountain biking
- Downhill skiing
- Snowboarding
- Mountain bike orienteering
- Ultra Running
- Telemark skiing
- Backcountry skiing
- Snowshoe trekking
- Climbing (outdoor)
- Off-road triathlon
- Off-road duathlon
For more information, see the Vertical speed & VAM support document.
Improved navigation features
The new Breadcrumb Trails feature allows you to retrace your steps by following the trail of geotagged markers you've left behind. In the route guidance view, we've added arrows along the route to indicate its direction.
You can now access maps outside of training via the Navigation view. From the watch face, swipe left or right until you reach it, then tap the display to open the details. Tap the map shown in the details to open the map navigation view. For more information, see the Offline maps support document.
After the firmware update, Vantage V3 will notify you of an optional upgrade that enables faster maps. This upgrade changes the file format of your watch to a new version. The file format version shown in Settings > About your watch will change to V 2.0. Note that the upgrade will remove the existing maps from your watch, including preinstalled basic maps. After the upgrade, you will need to download and transfer maps to your watch again. For instructions, see the Offline maps support document. You can perform the upgrade via the notification, or if you prefer to upgrade later, you can do so in Navigation view > Maps > Change file format.
Improved route sync
When you create new routes in Komoot or Strava, they will be automatically fetched from the service and synced to both your favorites in Polar Flow and the routes on your watch the next time you sync the watch with the Flow app.
Improved OHR accuracy
The new firmware improves OHR accuracy, especially during interval training sessions, which include high-intensity exercises followed by periods of rest. We've introduced a new feature to the OHR algorithm that continuously examines the heart rate data and corrects anomalies when possible. The corrected data can be viewed in the Flow app and web service after your session after syncing your data.
New watch faces styles and widgets
More watch face styles and widgets have been added to the watch face settings giving you loads of options to personalize the time view. Find your favorite combo in Settings > Watch face. For more information, see Watch face settings in the user manual.
In addition, we’ve rearranged a few menu items. We moved "About your watch" from General Settings to Settings, and the setting "I wear my watch on (Left hand or Right hand)" from General settings to the Physical settings. The setting previously known as Choose views is now Views.
