Polar Vantage V and Vantage M 4.0.11 firmware updates – Sleep Plus Stages™, Nightly Recharge™ and more
There are new firmware updates available for both Polar Vantage V and Vantage M. This release introduces a bunch of new features to your Vantage including Sleep Plus Stages, Nightly Recharge™ and the Serene™ breathing exercise.
In addition, we’ve added Galileo and QZSS satellite system support, manual stride sensor calibration, ZoneLock, Fitness Test as well as many other handy functions.
Sleep Plus Stages™
Deeper information on your sleep with sleep cycles and sleep score. When you sleep, your body goes through sleep cycles that consist of three sleep stages: light, deep and REM sleep. Sleep Plus Stages shows how long you spent in each sleep stage and counts your sleep cycles. It gathers your sleep time and sleep quality components into one easily glanceable value, Sleep Score. Find out more from: Sleep Plus Stages™ sleep tracking
Nightly Recharge™
A recovery measurement that shows how well you recover from stress and training during the night. With Nightly Recharge, you know whether your body is ready to go for it or if it’s better to take it easier for a day. It also helps you make the most of your day even when your resources are low. With Vantage V you can choose to use Recovery Pro or Nightly Recharge, whichever suits you and your goals best. On your watch go to General settings > Recovery tracking > Choose how to track your recovery to pick which one to use. Have a look at Recovery Pro or Nightly Recharge – which is the right one for me? to read more about these features.
Serene™ breathing exercise
Relax your body and calm down your mind with the Serene breathing exercise. When you do the Serene breathing exercise regularly, it can help you manage stress, improve the quality of your sleep and give you a sense of improved overall well-being. Get to know Serene™ guided breathing exercise
ZoneLock
Lock into the training zone you’re currently in on the fly by pressing and holding the OK button. Your Vantage will then alert you if stray out of your target zone. Works with heart rate zones in all sport profiles and training views whenever your heart rate is displayed. With speed and power zones first add the fullscreen speed and power training views to the sport profiles you wish to use ZoneLock in from the Flow web service or app sport profile settings. See How to use ZoneLock (Vantage M/Vantage V) for instructions.
Galileo and QZSS satellite system support
We've now added the option to switch to GPS + Galileo or GPS + QZSS satellite systems in your watch’s settings. Using GPS + Galileo or GPS + QZSS can possibly improve GPS performance when training in certain areas. Learn more from Vantage M/Vantage V GPS settings
Manual stride sensor calibration
Easily improve the accuracy of your stride sensor by manually calibrating it by running a set distance on a track for example. For step-by-step instructions see Calibrating a Polar stride sensor with Vantage M/Vantage V
Other features and functions new to Vantage
Fitness Test - Measures your aerobic (cardiovascular) fitness. It estimates your maximal oxygen uptake, VO2max, in milliliters per kilogram of body mass per minute. Can be done with a heart rate sensor and chest strap as well as with wrist-based heart rate.
Quick settings menu – Conveniently access flight mode, do not disturb and the alarm by swiping down from the top of the display in time view. Vantage V only.
Constant backlight during training – Set the backlight to be constantly on when training in poor lighting for example. Note that this will drain the battery faster.
Inactivity alerts on your watch - You´ll get an alert when you’ve been sedentary for an hour so that you know it’s time to get up and be active.
Detailed lap information on your watch – More detailed data from each lap now available straight on your watch after your session.
