Polar Grit X 2.0.12 firmware release – Music controls, Running performance test, Improved routes, and much more
The Grit X 2.0.12 release is now available for download via FlowSync and the Flow app. It’s packed with lots of new customization options and usability improvements, and includes new features such as the Running performance test, HR sensor mode and music controls.
Music controls
Navigate around your playlist and adjust volume straight on your Grit X without having to take out your phone. Available during training sessions as well as from the time view. In addition, the music controls are now conveniently located on a dedicated watch face for easy access when not training.
Running performance test
With the Running performance test you know where your running performance is now, and it allows you to personalize your heart rate, speed and power zones so that you'll always make the most of your runs. You can also find out your maximum heart rate with the test.
Improved routes
It's now possible to change your route on-the-fly during sessions. You can, for example, plan multiple routes and change the route to a longer or shorter one based on how you’re feeling that day. Just pause your session and choose a new route from Quick menu- Routes. Also added is the option to stop route guidance or change the direction you´re going on a route without ending your session. Press the START button in the route guidance training view to access these functions.
HR sensor mode
HR Sensor mode allows you to use your watch as a heart rate sensor to view your heart rate data via BLE on gym equipment or mobile apps for example.
Lots of new customization options
The quick settings menu is now customizable. Choose the features (flight mode, do not disturb, alarm and countdown timer) you want to access when swiping down from the top of the display in time view.
Also included is the possibility to personalize the watch face views. Pick which ones are shown on the display in time view from Settings > Choose views. Fresh new views include Weekly summary, Your name and Music controls. Weekly summary shows you an overview of your training week. The Your name watch face shows your first and last name on the display. Control music and media playing on your phone with the Music controls watch face.
More styles and colors have been added to the watch face settings giving you loads of options to personalize the time view. Find your favorite combo in Settings > Watch face.
Also added is the option to adjust the backlight brightness. Note that this setting doesn’t affect the backlight activated with the LIGHT button, it only affects the backlight triggered when pressing any other button or when turning your wrist to look at your watch.
You can now turn off your watch or perform a factory reset on it. Go to Settings > General settings > About your watch and scroll down to find these new functions. Another handy new feature is the option to silence a phone call with your watch.
In addition, Grit X now uses LLE assistance for GNSS providing faster fix times with GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS satellite systems.
Power-based targets, ZonePointer, ZoneLock, last lap details training views
In Polar Flow you can now create training targets based on power, add ZonePointer for power and speed zones, and add last lap details training views to your watch.
ZonePointer shows whether you are inside the pre-set or desired target zone and helps you reach your intensity/pace/speed targets. To use it in your speed or power zone-based sessions just add the Power limits or Speed/pace ZonePointer views to any running or cycling type sport profile in the Sport Profiles settings in the Flow web service or app.
ZoneLock lets you lock into the training zone (heart rate zone, speed/pace zone or power zone) you’re currently in on the fly. Just press and hold the OK button to lock into the zone you’re in. Your watch will then alert you if stray out of your target zone.
A total of 20 different last lap details training views are now available for Grit X in Polar Flow. Choose what details you want to see from your previous lap by adding any of the views in the Sport Profiles settings in the Flow web service or app.
Also, you can now manually skip a phase during a phased session, and see the distance covered and time elapsed when pausing a session.
Estonian, Slovenian and Hungarian languages added
Good news for speakers of Estonian, Hungarian and Slovenian! Grit X is now available in your languages. To switch, go to Settings > General settings > Language on your watch.
We´ve also cleaned up a few bugs and made enhancements to existing features. Update your watch on your computer via FlowSync or on your mobile via the Flow app.
