How do the calculations of different challenge types differ from each other?

Challenge type Challenge description Number of achievements Calories
Calories This challenge is all about burning calories within a specific timeframe. Calories both from activity and training are taken into account.  "Trainings and Activities" = training sessions + active days Calories both from activity* and training are taken into account. 
Distance This challenge aims to cover a specific distance through training. This is a perfect challenge to motivate you into being more active in everyday life, be it a start of a new running lifestyle or cycling to work every day.  "Trainings" = training sessions  Calories only from training are taken into account. 
Steps for Activity This challenge is about accumulating steps in a specific time period. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, or try commuting by foot - see if you manage to reach your steps goal together.  "Actives" = Active days Calories only from activity* are taken into account. 
Active time This challenge is based on activity zones, and you can tailor it to your liking. The goal is to train at a specific activity zone, and only training on the set zone counts.  "Actives" = Active days Calories only from activity* are taken into account. 

 

*Calories from activity doesn't include your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), the amount of energy expended while at rest.
