How do I update my M600 system software to Android Wear 2.0?

The new Android Wear 2.0 system software is now available for all Polar M600 users.

Android phone users

You'll get a notification about the available system update to your M600.

The system update will download automatically to your M600 when your smartwatch is plugged in to charge and connected to Android Wear application on your phone, and your phone has an Internet connection.

Downloading the Android Wear 2.0 system software update takes roughly 30 minutes. To check the download progress in your M600:

  1. Swipe down on the home screen to access the Quick settings menu.
  2. Swipe from right to left to find and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap About.
  4. Find and tap System updates.

Once the system software update has been downloaded to your M600,  a notification card says update is ready to be installed.

To install the software update:

  1. Swipe the notification card from right to left.
  2. Tap the download icon.
  3. Tap the checkmark to start the installation.

Your smartwatch will reboot and the Android system will be updated.

Restarting your smartwatch takes some time. Please be patient!

After the operating system has been upgraded, you’re prompted to copy your Google Account from your phone to your smartwatch. You'll need a Google account on your Polar M600 to be able to use the apps on the smartwatch.

To copy your Google Account to the smartwatch

  1. Swipe up on the prompt on your M600 to find and tap Copy Google Accounts.
  2. Finish copying the account by following the instructions on the phone screen.

After copying your Google Account to the smartwatch, you need to activate the Play Store app on M600.

To set up the Play Store app on your M600 with your Google Account

  1. Press the side power button to open the apps menu.
  2. Find and tap Play Store.
  3. Swipe the screen up. Tap the checkmark icon to agree to the Google Play Services Terms of Service.

The Play Store app on your M600 is now set up with your Google Account. The Polar app on your M600 will automatically update  to the latest version when your smartwatch is plugged in to charge and connected to Internet.

iPhone users

Downloading the update to your M600

You'll get a notification about the available system update to your M600.

To download the update to your M600:

  1. Plug your smartwatch to a charger.
  2. Keep your phone on and connected to the Internet.
  3. Make sure the Android Wear app says M600 is Connected. Keep M600 connected with your phone until the update is finished.
  4. Swipe the notification card from right to left once to use Wi-Fi to download the update.

    We recommend that you use Wl-Fi to download the system update. Using Bluetooth can take several hours. Please note that Wi-Fi support for Android Wear 1.5 for iOS is limited. Download via Wi-Fi is available only if you select it by tapping the Use Wi-Fi card. It is not possible to download the system update via Wi-Fi from Settings menu.

  5. Tap your choice.
    If you choose to use Wi-Fi and the network requires a password, tap Open on phone. On your phone, enter the password for the Wi-Fi and tap Connect. If the Wi-Fi settings screen does not open automatically on your iPhone you can access it from iPhone home screen: Settings > Wi-Fi > name of the secure Wi-Fi network.

Downloading the Android Wear system software update can take a while. To check the download progress  in your M600:

  1. Swipe down on the home screen to access the Quick settings menu.
  2. Swipe from right to left to find and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down to find and tap About.
  4. Find and tap System updates.

Installing the update

Once the system software update has been downloaded to your M600, a notification card says update is ready to be installed.

To install the software update:

  1. Swipe the notification card from right to left.
  2. Tap Open.
  3. Tap the checkmark to start the installation.

Your smartwatch will reboot and the Android system will be updated.

You’ll need to confirm the pairing of your devices: Make sure the code on your M600 matches the code shown on your phone. Tap CONFIRM on your phone, and tap the check mark on your M600.

Wi-Fi on your smartwatch

Connecting to Wi-Fi is not automatic on iOS. 

To connect the M600 to a Wi-Fi network

  1. Swipe down from the top of the home screen to access the Quick settings menu.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Tap Connectivity.
  4. Tap Wi-Fi.
  5. Tap +Add network.
  6. Wait for the smartwatch to find available Wi-Fi networks, and tap the one you want to connect to.
  7. If the network you chose requires a password, tap Enter on phone. On your phone, enter the password for the Wi-Fi and tap Connect.

Setting up the Play Store app with your Google Account

Once Google Account is copied to M600, you need to activate the Play Store app.

To set up the Play Store app on your M600 with your Google Account

  1. Press the side button to open the apps menu.
  2. Find and tap Play Store.
  3. Swipe the screen up and agree to the Google Play Services Terms of Service by tapping the checkmark icon.

The Play Store app on your M600 is now set up with your Google Account. The Polar app on your M600 will update automatically to the latest version when your smartwatch is plugged in to charge and connected to Internet.
