Can I use my M600 when swimming or showering?

Polar M600 is water resistant to 10 meters, and can be worn during swimming and showering.

Training in water

When you're recording a swimming session with the Polar app, water may prevent the wrist-based heart rate measurement from working optimally. But the Polar app will still collect your activity data from your wrist movements during swimming, and you can also get swimming metrics from your swimming sessions.

Note that you can't use a Polar heart rate sensor with a chest strap with the M600 when swimming because Bluetooth doesn't work in water.

Screen settings in water

The touchscreen in the Polar app is automatically turned off when you use the Swimming and Pool swimming sport profiles so that water won’t cause any unwanted touches on the screen during training.

If you’re using some other sport profile, like the Open water swimming, you can turn off the touchscreen in the Polar app for the training session.

To lock the touchscreen (in the Polar app when you've started a training session)

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Swipe left to find the Screen lock view.
  3. Tap the open lock icon to turn the Screen lock ON for the current training session.

To unlock the touchscreen

  1. Touch anywhere on the locked screen. You'll see a lock icon and the text Swipe down peeking from the top of the screen.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  3. Tap the lock icon to turn the Screen lock OFF.

The touchscreen of your M600 may interpret water drops from the shower as touches to the screen. It’s a good idea to turn on the theater mode while you’re showering because in theater mode the screen of your M600 won’t react to touches.

To turn on theater mode

  1. Swipe down from the top of the home screen to access the Quick settings menu.
  2. Tap the Theater mode icon.

Do not use the M600 screen lock while your smartwatch is in contact with water! Having the M600 screen lock setting on won’t prevent the smartwatch from recognizing touches on the touchscreen. If the M600 screen lock is turned on while you’re wearing your M600 in water, the M600 might interpret water as touches to the screen and as attempts to open the locked screen with a wrong pattern, PIN or password. If the wrong pattern, PIN or password is entered too many times, the smartwatch will factory reset.
