Setting up and using a PIN on your watch
Protect your data by setting a six-digit PIN on your watch. When a PIN is enabled, your watch automatically locks when removed from your wrist and requires the PIN to unlock. This helps ensure that even if your watch is lost or stolen, unauthorized users cannot access your personal information. Additionally, the PIN protects the USB connection to a computer, allowing you to safely charge your watch on any computer while controlling data transfer between devices.
Note that for the watch to detect whether you are wearing it, the Continuous Heart Rate feature must be turned on:
-
When the Continuous Heart Rate feature is turned On, the watch can detect whether you are wearing it using skin contact detection. After entering the PIN while wearing the watch, you won't need to enter it again as long as skin contact is detected. The watch will automatically lock when it no longer detects skin contact. For optimal skin contact detection, ensure you are wearing the watch correctly.
-
When the Continuous Heart Rate feature is turned Off or Night-time only, skin contact detection is not available. In this case, the watch will lock when the backlight turns off.
Setting a PIN on your watch
You can set a PIN during setup or later via Settings > Data & security > Set PIN. Choose a six-digit PIN and re-enter it to confirm.
Once a PIN is set, you will find options to change or turn it off in the Data & security menu. The current PIN is required to change or turn it off.
What can be accessed when the watch is locked?
When locked, you can still view the time, but accessing the menu and other features requires unlocking the watch with your PIN.
During training, the watch will remain unlocked even if the backlight turns off or skin contact is not detected. This allows you, for example, to mount the watch on your bike's handlebars without it locking due to the lack of skin contact.
You can also manually sync your watch with the Flow app by pressing and holding the BACK button, even when the watch is locked.
What if I enter the wrong PIN or forget my PIN?
If you enter an incorrect PIN three times in a row, your watch will lock for one minute. Continued incorrect attempts will increase the wait time to five minutes. After multiple failed attempts, the watch will prompt you to reset the PIN by performing a factory reset.
If you cannot remember your PIN, it is recommended to factory reset your watch and set a new PIN code. Resetting the watch back to factory settings empties all personal data and settings from the watch, and you will need to set it up again for your personal use. All data that you have synced from your watch to your Flow account is safe. It is recommended to sync your watch with the Flow app before performing a factory reset. You can start the sync manually by pressing and holding the BACK button, even when the watch is locked. For detailed instructions, see Syncing.
